Which is better for sus food grade 304 or 316 stainless steel?

Time : 2021-08-26 Hits : 22

Which is better? It's hard to say. It depends on where you choose 304 and 316 stainless steel, what are the performance requirements, and how to choose these two materials. 304 is commonly used, but 316 is only used for special requirements. If 304 stainless steel of food grade is used for daily life, it can be used. For chemical containers, 316 stainless steel can be used.

1

The chemical compositions of 304 and 316 are different

304 stainless steel, its material composition is ocr18ni9316l, austenitic stainless steel, material composition is oocr12mo2ti.

2

304 and 316 have different properties

304 stainless steel can resist the corrosion of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, urea, etc. it is suitable for general water, control gas, wine, milk, CIP cleaning solution and other occasions with little corrosion or without contacting materials.

The addition of molybdenum element to 316L stainless steel grade 304 can significantly improve its resistance to intergranular corrosion, oxide stress corrosion and reduce the tendency of hot cracking during welding. It also has good resistance to chloride corrosion. It is often used in pure water, distilled water, medicine, sauce, vinegar and other places with high sanitary requirements and strong corrosion performance.

304 and 316 are used for different purposes

304 stainless steel: 18cr-8ni-0.08c, good corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and processability, strong oxygen acid resistance, stamping, can be used to make industrial containers, tableware, metal furniture, building decoration, railings, and medical appliances.

316 stainless steel: 18cr-12ni-2.5mo is common in coastal buildings, ships, nuclear power chemistry, food equipment, watch accessories, pharmaceutical industry and surgical equipment. It not only improves the corrosion resistance of chemicals hydrochloric acid and marine, but also improves the corrosion resistance of brine halogen solution.

304 and 316 chloride corrosion resistance:

304 stainless steel is a kind of non-magnetic stainless steel whose microstructure can not be changed by heat treatment.

Due to the addition of molybdenum element, 316 stainless steel has a special anti-corrosion structure and stronger resistance to chloride corrosion.

The stainless steel water tank is divided into stainless steel cylindrical water tank and square combined stainless steel water tank. The circular and square water tanks are usually made of 304 inner stainless steel and 201 outer. If there are special requirements, the materials can be customized, such as 304 inner layer, 304 outer layer, 316 inner layer and 201 outer layer. Can refer to the above choice, remember to be applicable, after all, to consider the price. The price of 316 is almost twice that of 304.
